Rock’s silicon splatter special effects have been put to use over the course
of the three installations of Can Buildings Curate by interfering with the
architectural special effects of each venue. At the AA and at LOT, Rock
shifted attention to the marginal space of the ‘shadow-gap’, beloved by
Modern architects. At the Storefront in New York, Rock paid hommage
to Vito Acconci’s 1971 work ‘Remote Control’ by gunging and taping
up the facade with ‘a kind of fungal, bodily, excremental, confectionery
overload.’ These pictures are documents from each installation. |
