Dee Ferris with Sandrine Pelletier, Yuh-Shioh Wong & Eamon
O’Kane
Ferris’s commission is a painting sculpture begun on the floor of her
East London studio. Inspired by Richard Serra’s heroic, splashed-lead
series from the 1960s, her piece is successively re-completed by a ‘host’
painter, at each venue by reacting to a set of instructions given by the
original artist. At the Lucy Mackintosh Gallery, the latest collaborator, Sandrine Pelletier, interprets
the collection of pieces in her own way, and continues from New York
artist Yuh-Shioh Wong cand Bristol based Eamon O’Kane’s additions. By
turns different and the same, Splashing links studio to gallery, resulting in a
spatially instructive gallery within a gallery. |
