For WELCOME TO COLORFUL, Claudia Comte embraces and utilises the many references of pop culture, with varying degrees of irony. She seems almost emotionally linked to these techniques of artistic creation, and adopts them to create a constant call and response between the non-figurative painting and sculpture of the 20th century: a lyrical and, of course, a geometric abstraction. She does not limit herself to the art of her predecessors, and finds inspiration in contemporary imagery, especially that of video games, or in the images she has kept from childhood. Comte shows a need for art and the construction of an identity through invented and repeated images. She expands the media she uses for both her expression and her stylistic palette in order to reply more thoroughly to the influx of references her generation receives and inherits from art school and the popular generalisation of culture by art centres and the Internet. She refuses to create a monologue, rather opting for generous conversation, acting spontaneously and autonomously from her peers and predecessors.
