Diffusion VII 2012 75.5 x 50.5 cm Edition of 6
I work as a brain researcher, and being intimately involved with science, I wanted to extrapolate my findings into visual graphics.
Throughout history, art has sourced different elements of its surroundings, and today brain-imaging technology has become an opportunity to derive highly sophisticated data into graphic compositions.
This work represents a series of collages made from diffusion images of my brain, acquired with magnetic resonance imaging. Diffusion imaging is a technique showing the fibres connecting the different parts of the brain. By applying different filters to these images, I slowly reconstructed the complex network of pathways that allow me to look, move, think, love and enjoy.
