La Lumière d’Héphaïstos (Hephaestus’ Light) is an exhibition from the depths of the world of steel and the birth of matter. Maurice Schobinger has photographed the “monument-factories” between Belgium and the Ural, travelling to the start of modern architecture and uncovering the origins of engineers’ prowess, which have once more transformed raw material into the objects and parts that make up our daily life.
The images were taken between 2008 and 2011 at the ArcelorMittal (Gand, Belgium), Octobre Rouge (Volgograd, Russia) and MMK (Magnitogorsk, Russia) factories.
The exhibition is curated by Pierre Starobinski.
La Lumière d’Héphaïstos is held at Barbacane, Esplanade du Château, Aubonne |
