The exhibition takes place at the EPFL Rolex Learning Center and consists of five triptychs, or “repons”.
Each “repons” is a dialogue between three pieces, the first being a reproduction of a map chosen for its key, though often overlooked, role in the history of cartography.
The other two works are creations by artists, who are given free rein to create a piece in reaction to the map.
The originality of the project resides in the confrontation between a particular map (rather than a group of maps or the idea of cartography) and the artists’ vision.
The exhibition has been organised by Elsa Chavinier (Laboratoire Chôros, EPFL), Lucy Mackintosh, and Véronique Mauron (Cultural Affairs, EPFL).
The show runs until 30th April at the Rolex Learning Centre, EPFL, Lausanne. |
